Trip Information
Situated in Annapurna Sanctuary in the Annapurna Himal, Tent Peak is locally known as Tharpu Chuli. It was nicknamed ” Tent Peak” by Jimmy Roberts in 1956. The peak lies at an altitude of 5663 mt. above the sea level. Located in the heart of Annapurna Sanctuary, the peak is among the few snow-clad summits at this height in Nepal. The peak is best suited for the beginners. It offers an ideal opportunity for those who want to summit a Himalayan peak fearing of giving a try to the higher peaks as a Himalayan debut. Besides, it also provides an interesting climb combining with glacier travel, face climbing and tip-toeing on knife ridges. No doubt, a climb on this mountain offers an unparalleled view of the entire Annapurna Sanctuary, a breathtaking circle of hanging glaciers and moraines surrounded by some of the highest peaks on earth. The normal route follows the North-West Ridge to the summit; however, it can also be climbed via the South-East Ridge as well as South-West Face.
