We organize a hunting tour in Nepal. Hunting in this ecological awakening age hunting seems quite contradictory but Nepal has been a favored ground for hunters since the 9th century. In the Himalayan country, controlled hunting is allowed with proper licenses and certain seasons of the year. A hunting license is issued by the Department of National Park and Wildlife Conservation in Kathmandu and there are a few hunting outfitters who can make arrangements.

The hunting groups normally trek or fly (helicopter) into the high terrain areas in quest of the Himalayan Tahr and the Blue Sheep. Mid-elevation prizes include wild goat and sheep; in the Terai lowlands, deer are sought. Hunting in Nepal is permitted only in designated areas, and a licensed guide must accompany hunting parties.

Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve is one of the prime habitats of blue sheep, a highly prized trophy animal, which is the main target of hunters. Other game species are Ghoral, Serow, Himalayan Tahr, Black Bear Pheasant, and Partridge. Endangered species of the area include the red panda and cheer pheasant.

Besides hunting, Dhorpatan is also an attractive destination for the trekker and wildlife enthusiast as protection has enabled animal numbers to increase in this rarely visited area.

Dhorpatan can be reached from Pokhara within the 5 days of a hike away or there is also the option of flying to Dolpa. The best time to visit Dhorpatan is February-April and August-October. Accommodation here is on the tented camp which can be provided by the organizing agencies or at one of the villages.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu International airport and meet with representative of Everest Expeditions Nepal, then transfer to hotel.

After breakfast, proceed to sightseeing tour to heritage sites of Kathmandu. Visit to Boudhanath stupa, Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath Stupa and Kathmandu durbar square tour.

Day 3: Kathmandu to Pokhara by Tourist Bus or by flight

Drive to Darbang through Nayapul, Beni and to Darbang by Landcruiser.

Day 5: Darbang to Muna village 5 hours walk stay in a simple lodge

From here we hire horses and reach Dhorpatan in 5 hrs. On the way you see beautiful Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri mountain range, Crystal River and waterfall on the way.

We pay taxes and go for hunting with local guides. We stay in tents. Beautiful sub alpine forest and tranquility

For the whole day we go for hunting with horses and local guide, enjoy wilderness, serenity of deep jungle.

Day 9: Muna Back to Muna with horse. Stay overnight in Magar village. (Brave Gurkha Soilders)

Early in the morning start walking to Beni Tatopani, enjoy Natural hot spring only. Deep relaxation.

In the morning after visiting Beni Bazaar, we drive to Pokhara in a luxury vehicle. Evening cultural program

After breakfast, drive back or fly back to Kathmandu.

When Nepal regulated trophy hunting policy many people from America, Europe, Australia and Russia has enjoyed beautiful hunt Blue Sheep and Himalayan Tahr. Nepal has great bio diversity landscapes, climate, vegetation and wildlife. You can hunt in plain to mountain.Nepal has a great opportunity for hunters to re open various species which are already listed in IUCN. Now the population growing, farmers are suffering, everyone has awareness to protect wildlife. Trophy hunting is the only way sustainable use of wildlife and Nature.

Nepal is an ultimate destination not only for adventure but also for many other reasons, including for hunting. Dhorpatan hunting reserve is the spot located adjoining between Myagdi and Baglung district, just bellow the Dhaulagiri Himalayan range in the western Nepal. The reserve stretching over 1,325 sq km is located in between 3,000 to 7,000 meters. This reserve is the home of various animals including leopard, blue sheep, Ghoral, Serow, Himalayan Thar, Himalayan Black beer, barking deer, wild boar, Rhesus monkey, Langur and various endangered birds like Pheasant, Danphe, Partridge among others.

This is only the place where the license hunting is allowed. If you are interested in hunting sport, you will be granted a license for certain days or period and go for hunting animals and birds in the reserve. The hunting trip begins with short drive some 72 km away from Pokhara to Baglung and then you will have nearly about 4 days trekking and finally reach at the reserve and camp nearby. After completing the permission formalities, you will then enjoy with hunting sports and finally exploring all around you will return back to Pokhara along same route, subsequently to Kathmandu.
