Mount Putha Hiunchuli of 7246 meter height was first ascended by British Nepali team in 1954. Putha Hiunchuli is located in Dolpo region or also known as “Wild West” part of Nepal. This region is made famous by Peter Matthiessen’s book The Snow Leopard. and Eric Vallies movie Caravan. Putha Hiunchuli mountain is situated in Dhaulagiri range. It has two climbing routes for the summit, one from North east routeand follows route from Dolpa (Juphal) trekking onward to Dunai, Tarakot, Musikhola, Kagkot, Yak khark and to Putha Hiunchuli base camp. Whereas South side route follows trekking route from Beni, Lulang village, Gurja village and then finally to Putha Hiunchuli base camp. It is also the same base camp of Churen himal, Gurja Himal. Whereas Because of maximum cancellation and uncertainty of the domestic air flight to Dolpa, we use South side route of ascent.

Note: It is not possible to visit all world heritage sites in Kathmandu within a day. So you can choose at least 3-4 places for day sightseeing.

    Meals: BB Plan

     30 min flight  Lodge

Today we take a flight from Kathmandu and fly towards Nepalganj. Nepalgunj is located in the southwestern part of the Terai region near to the border of India. After landing at Nepalgunj, you will be transferred to the hotel. We will visit the holy Bageshwari Temple and spend our time wandering around the busy market 'bazaar'. Here we can see people from every corner of Nepal, including people from Tibet and India. They gather here for trading goods and services.

Meals: All Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

     3 hrs Trek  Lodge

We start early for taking a morning flight from Nepalgunj to the dirt airstrip of Juphal. After safely landing at Juphal airport, we gather our gears and start trekking on a broad trail that descends passing through beautiful terraced fields. Our trail goes along a small group of buildings before crossing the Thuli Bheri Khola (river). After crossing the river we continue our trek on a broad dirt track trail that brings us to Dunai for the overnight stay. Dunai is the administrative centre as well as the main trading centre of the whole Dolpo Region.

Meals: All Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

     5-6 hrs Trek  Tented Camp

After breakfast, we leave Dunai and follow the trail that goes along the Thuli Bheri river towards Tarakot. We will trek on a broad trail with less steep sections. Tarakot is a cluster of rural settlements which is nestled at the river's confluence and offers best camping grounds. It is an old fortress town built by the local people as Dzong or fortress. Once we reach the campsite, our crew will set up the camps and make preparations for further trekking.

Meals: All Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

     5-6 hrs Trek  Tented Camp

All set to go, we leave Tarakot and follow the trail that heads along the right bank of the river. A rather easy trek will bring us to Lesicap at 2,772 meters. We continue our trek with great views of nearby valleys and gorges. After a few hours of trekking from Lesicap, we approach towards Musi Khola for our overnight camping. Our campsite is situated in the forest with a few homesteads scattered around us. It is most likely that you will be greeted by local children who are always happy to see strangers from foreign lands.

Meals: All Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

     5-6 hrs Trek  Tented Camp

From Musikhola our trail becomes more challenging as we trek towards Kakot. Our trail follows the path where the route has collapsed and been rebuilt for allowing the passage of pack animals. After some time of trekking, the trail crosses a bridge across the narrowest part of the river. Soon we will follow a broad trail and path hewn into the rock and built on a marvellous descending staircase engineered by the locals to finally reach our campsite at Kakot.

Meals: All Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

     5-6 hrs Trek  Tented Camp

From Kakot we will follow the rising trail heading towards the base camp which is closed off by deep and impassable ravines that can only be reached after crossing two high altitude passes. We will follow the trail that heads for the crossing of the first pass at 4,160 meters. From there we will continue our trek to reach our campsite near German Base Camp at 4,400 meters. Our crew will set up the camp as soon as we reach the campsite. Resting after a long day's trek is surely worth.

Meals: All Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

     4-5 hrs Trek  Tented Camp

After breakfast, we leave German Base Camp and follow the trail that is a steep ascend over the second and much more challenging pass. The climbing of Putha Hiunchuli is considered much less technical, however, the ascending trail to reach the base camp is considered much more difficult. Trekking in higher altitude can be very tiring so resting every now and then helps in restoring energy much needed for fruitful trekking. Our base camp will be set over moraine plateau at 4,915 meters. Our crew will make necessary preparations for climbing Putha Hiunchuli.

Meals: All Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

19 days climbing towards Mt. Putha Hiunchuli  Tented Camp

We will spend several days doing climbing training practices with adequate days for acclimatization. Fully equipped with all the climbing gears, we will follow the footsteps and instructions given by our experienced climbing experts. Overcoming several technical climbing sections and taking weather conditions into consideration we climb towards the summit of Putha Hiunchuli. Once at the top we are rewarded with breathtaking views of high valleys and peaks within the Dolpo region. We will spend short quality time at the summit and descend back to base camp following the same route.

Meals: All Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

     5-6 hrs Trek  Tented Camp

Having achieved our target - the summit of Putha Hiunchuli, we will make a relaxed start and prepare for the return journey. After cleaning up the base camp, we will retrace our steps on the same trail that passes through crossing a pass to reach our campsite at German Base Camp. On our way back we will explore the beautiful landscapes of the Dolpo region.

Meals: All Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

     5-6 hrs Trek  Tented Camp

After breakfast, we pack our gears and leave our camp at the German Base Camp. We continue to retrace our steps that head back for the crossing of another pass. Our trail after crossing the pass is a pleasant walk as we descend to reach back to Kakot for our overnight camping.

Meals: All Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

     5-6 hrs Trek  Lodge

From Kakot we continue to retrace our steps on the same trail that passes through Musi Khola. Our trail heads back through Tarakot as we trek to reach all the way back to Dunai for our overnight stay. Today is a rather long but pleasant day of trekking. We will celebrate the evening with all the climbing crew members at Dunai.

Meals: All Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

     2-3 hrs Trek  Lodge

After breakfast at Dunai, we will make a relaxed start and begin our trek on a broad trail that crosses Thulo Bheri River before climbing through terraced farmlands to arrive back to Jhupal - where our trek ends technically. We will spend the rest of our day exploring around Jhupal before taking a flight back to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj, the following day.

Meals: All Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

     Hotel/Resort

Since there are no direct flights from Jhupal to Kathmandu, we will have our breakfast and take an early morning flight from Jhupal to Nepalgunj. From Nepalgunj, we will take another connecting flight that will take us back to Kathmandu. After landing at Kathmandu, you will be transferred to the hotel. You can either have rest at the hotel or take a walk around the busy streets of Kathmandu.

    Meals: Breakfast + Lunch
