Situated 11km to the North of Kathmandu, is another very good location. Nagerjun Forest on Jamacho hill situated 5 km from Kathmandu on the way to Kakani from Balaju. It is a renowned sight for bird enthusiasts to enjoy beautiful scenery. Birds in Shivapuri reserve includes blue magpies, kalij pheasants, Bonelli’s eagles, great Himalayan barbets amongst many species found here.
Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park (159 sq km) situated on the northern fringe of Kathmandu valley. It lies about 12 km away from the center of capital city. The area gazetted as the country’s ninth national park in 2002. Prior its declaration as national park, it manages under the Shivapuri Watershed Development Board. It later declared as Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve.
