Kanjirowa Expedition Cost and Itinerary
Kanjirowa Expedition with Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition Team starts with flights from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj. And then to Juphal. After landing at the airstrip of Juphal. We begin our trek with Sherpa Guides through an isolated region with dramatic landscapes, sub-tropical and low alpine forests. Likewise, we get an opportunity for religious and cultural charming villages until we reach the Base Camp. During our trek, we are most likely to encounter several endangered species of wildlife. Moreover, we will also experience the authentic culture of warm, welcoming and hospitable natives.
From Kanjirowa Base Camp, we ascend gradually by making many numbers of high camps and by taking plenty of time for safe acclimatization. At first, we follow non-technical trail often climbing through snow paved walls. Then our climb becomes more technical and challenging as we head towards the summit of Kanjirowa Peak 6,883m. After the successful summit climb, we descend safely back to base camp and then trek back to Juphal. Our memorable trip of Kanjirowa Expedition Nepal ends with a connecting flight from Juphal to Nepalgunj and then to Kathmandu.
Itinerary
Our representative from Everest Expeditions Nepal will meet you at Tribhuwan International Airport on your arrival schedule. You will be greeted and then transferred to the hotel in the heart of Kathmandu city. Our staff will help you until the check-in procedure ends at Hotel. In the evening, join our welcome dinner program organized by Everest Expeditions Nepal Pvt. Ltd.

We will spend our day sightseeing around some of the attractive world heritage sites within Kathmandu valley. Also, today we will complete all the necessary paper works and other preparations required for Kanjiroba Expedition with Everest Expeditions Nepal Pvt. Ltd.
Note: It is not possible to visit all world heritage sites in Kathmandu within a day. So you can choose at least 3-4 places for day sightseeing.

Today we take a flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj which takes around thirty minutes. Nepalgunj is located in the southwestern part of the Terai region near to the border of India. In Nepalgunj, we spend our day by paying a visit to the holy Bageshwari Temple and just wandering around the busy market. Here we can see people from every corner of Nepal, including people from Tibet and India. They gather here for a trade of goods and services.

Today we will take another flight from Nepalgunj to the dirt airstrip of Juphal. After landing at Juphal we start our trek on a broad trail that descends passing through beautiful terraced fields. Our trek goes along a small group of buildings before crossing the Thuli Bheri Khola. After crossing the river we continue our trek on a broad dirt track trail that leads towards Dunai. Dunai is the administrative centre as well as the main trading centre of the whole Dolpo Region.

6-7 hrs trek Tented Camp
From Dunai we start our trek by crossing the suspension bridge over Thulo Bheri Khola and trek along the right bank of the river to reach Sulighat. There is a National Park office at Sulighat where we will make a stop for permit checks and registration. After registration at the check post, our trek continues over the true left bank of the river passing through the village of Raktang. Our trail from there heads for the crossing of a large tributary, Ankhe Khola and then make a final climb for about an hour to reach Chhepka for the overnight camping.

5-6 hrs trek Tented Camp
Leaving Chhepka our trail crosses the Suli Khola to its west bank for avoiding a steep, landslide affected area and return to its east bank after about an hour of trekking. Our trek continues passing through dense forest before crossing a tributary. Then we will climb over a switch back to arrive at the broad grassy plateau. From there we will gradually descend down to reach the river bed and to the good camping site of Rechi for the overnight camping.

5-6 hrs trek Tented Camp
After breakfast, we leave Rechi and follow the trail that passes through a school and gompa. The teachers and students from the school are always happy to receive guests. Our trek from there continues along the true right bank of Phoksundo river before ascending through cedar and pine forest to reach a small winter settlement of Polam. Our trail from there climbs up the ridge for a good view of the blue Phoksundo Lake – Nepal’s deepest and second-largest lake. The trail soon descends through birch forest before climbing an easy gradient to reach Ringmo Village.

6-7 Hrs Trek Tented Camp
Today we follow one of the most spectacular sections of the trail. We start our trek continuing on the western side of the lake outflow and then gradually ascending towards the cliff with excellent views of the Phoksundo Lake and the village. After a few hours of uphill trekking, our trail descends to the floodplains of the Phoksundo Khola for the overnight camping.

5-6 hrs Trek Tented Camp
From Phoksundo Khola we will follow the trail that winds up the gorge, crossing the river many times. After some time the gradient eases and the gorge widens. Our trek continues passing through a small waterfall and then climb a switchback to arrive at the broad valley. We will trek until we arrive at the good camping site at the base of the long curving trail that leads up to the pass.

5-6 hrs Trek Tented Camp
Leaving Pass Camp we will follow the trail that heads for the crossing of adventurous Nangdala La Pass at 5,350 meters. Our trail to the pass is over loose slate-scree, climbing steeply towards the top of the pass. From the top, we can see a broad valley of Upper Dolpo. From the top of the pass, we will gently descend down to the valley. During our trek, we will probably meet yak and sheep herds before reaching the red-painted walls of Shey Gompa for the overnight camping.

Tented Camp
Acclimatization is very crucial in higher altitudes to avoid mental and physical sickness and to ensure the successful summit climb of Mt Kanjirowa. Therefore, we will take a rest day for acclimatization and explore around Shey Gompa. We can visit Kagyupa gompa as well as the hermitage at Tsakang. It is one of the most sacred valleys in Dolpo. It is common to spot blue sheep and snow leopard in this area, locals here prohibit the killing of any animals in and around Shey Gompa.

5-6 hrs Trek Tented Camp
From Shey Gompa, our trail climbs up to reach a small valley. We will descend slightly to cross a stream before climbing to a ridge. Our trek continues over an undulating trail and passes through several chortens with prayer flags. A mixture of uphill and downhill trekking will lead us to Bijer village for the overnight camping. The lama at the Gompa in Bijer is also an amchi (Tibetan medicine doctor) and knows the tale of the first settlement of the village.

5-6 hrs Trek Tented Camp
After breakfast, we pack our gears and start our trek by following the trail that is gradual uphill trekking for about two hours. Resting every now and then helps in restoring energy for further trekking in the higher altitudes. Our trek continues with several ups and downs as we head towards a good camping site near Namlang Khola. Our Sherpa crew will set up the camp and check our health conditions which are very essential for the main summit climb of Mt Kanjirowa.

5-6 hrs Trek Tented Camp
From Namlang Khola we start our trek and follow an undulating trail passing through harsh alpine vegetation. During our trek, the possibility of spotting the rare and endangered species of wild animals such as Blue Sheep and Snow Leopard. We will explore the magnificent surrounding valleys and continue trekking until we arrive at Jopala for the overnight camping.

3-4 hrs Trek Tented Camp
Today is a rather short day trekking. However, our trail is a steep all the way to Kanjiroba Base Camp. Our climbing trek can be very tiring so resting every now and then helps in restoring energy for trekking in the higher altitudes. Once we reach the campsite, our Sherpa crew will quickly set up the camp and make necessary preparations for further climbing of Mt Kanjiroba.

15 days Tented Camp
Our Sherpa crew will set up additional camps above base camp before attempting the main summit of Mt Kanjirowa. We will engage in climbing training practices which also helps to get proper acclimatization. Fully equipped with all the climbing gears and taking weather conditions into consideration we will follow the instructions given by our experienced climbing experts. Our climb to the summit of Mt Kanjirowa is rewarded with breathtaking valleys of Dolpo to the south and several snow-capped peaks to the north bordering Tibet. After spending some quality time at the summit we descend following the same route and head back to the Base Camp.

10 days Tented Camp
After successfully achieving the summit of Mt Kanjirowa we prepare ourselves for the return journey. We will retrace our steps on the same trail as we pass through Shey Gompa and Phoksundo Lake. During our trek, it is most likely to spot blue sheep and the exclusive Snow Leopard. Our return trekking continues for a few days to arrive at Juphal.

35 min flight to Nepalgunj & 1 hrs flight to Kathmandu Hotel/Resort
After breakfast, we will take an early morning flight from Juphal to Nepalgunj. After landing at Nepalgunj airport we take another connecting flight to reach back to Kathmandu. Once at Kathmandu, you will be transferred to the hotel. You can either have rest at the hotel or take a walk around the busy market streets of Thamel. In the evening we will celebrate the successful completion of Kanjirowa Expedition and have a final meal together.

Trip Information
Mount Kanjiroba lies in far west part of nepal at Dolpa region,is mysterious for most traveler because of uneasy accession and destination. Only few trekkers has known and a few mountaineers have climbed over mount Kanjiroba. Since it was captivated by high mountainous range, in 1971 it was discovered, that is seen from the top of Tokarpo Kang(6556m) untill then the name of these mountain were unknown. The people had unclear idea i.e it must be on the nepal-tibet boder and easternmost part of Mugu district. Later from 1930 after the surveyed map of india it was roughly named as Kubi Kangri to these mountain ranges, probably from the data of sven Hedin’s expedition in 1907. Afterthat the people had great interest to access these mountains and the flight starts from Nepalgunja to Juphal then trek up to Jopala Khola and then to Kanjiroba Base camp.The route will be the same to get back to Juphal and to Nepalgunj then fly to Kathmandu or drive from there.
