Itinerary
On arrival our office representative will meet and drive you to your hotel/houseboat from the airport. Afternoon / Evening we will check the all the equipment as well as bikes. Later we can do some ride by bikes Srinagar. Overnight Stay at hotel/Houseboat in Srinagar.
After breakfast, continue your adventurous motorbike riding to Kargil, 204 km approx from Srinagar. Pass across Drass village (world’s second coldest region after sebria), Zojila Pass (Gateway of Ladakh), Sonamarg (Meadow of gold), halt at Sonamarg for refreshment then continue to Srinagar. Check inn hotel in Kargil. Do sightseeing in Kargil and overnight stay at hotel in Kargil.
After breakfast we start from Kargil to Lamayuru and around 40 Kms down the road is the town of Mulbek, a sleepy town which many would pass through without knowing the fact that next to the road is a statue of Maitreya, the future Buddha. It is believed that the 9 meter high statue carved out of solid rock was built in 7th or 8th century. Although one is not allowed to take photographs of the statue, the statue itself is a must see for any one passing through Mulbek. A short ride from Mulbek will take you to 12198 ft high Namika La, a windy yet scenic pass. Roughly at about 40 Kms from Namika La is Fotu La, the highest point on the Srinagar – Leh highway, (13,479ft). After short yet scenic ride/drive you will reach the village of Lamayuru, which houses one of the most famous and oldest monasteries of Ladakh. Few kms down the road from Lamayuru are the Hangro Loops, the 18 loops are fast yet sharp loops with steep gorges, drive/ride carefully here. Next major attraction comes in the form of Gurudwara Patthar Sahib located in the town of Nimmu (55kms from Leh), beyond which it’s fast and straight forward drive/ride to Leh Overnight stay at hotel in Leh.
After breakfast, Ride bike to Shey (Ancient Capital of Ladakh). Visit Shey Palace wherein you visit big copper gilt statue of Lord Buddha, built by Deldan Namgyal in 1633AD. After the visit, continue to Thiksey. Visit picturesque monastery (little Potala), is the oldest monastery of Gelugpa sect in Ladakh. The great Lama Paldan Shesrap built in 15th century. Here you visit the big statue of the Future Buddha. Enjoy awesome panoramic view of Indus valley from the roof of monastery. After visiting this monastery, continue ride to Stakna via crossing Indus River. Visit Stakna monastery, built in 16th century by Lama great scholar saint of Bhutan during the lifetime of Jamyang Namgyal. Later ride to Stok Palace, visit the royal palace, constructed by the king Tsespal Tondup Namgyal in 1825AD. Inside the palace, you see great collection of ancient royal ornaments, Thankas (scroll paintings) and old statues. After the visit ride back to Leh via crossing Indus River at Choglamsar. Overnight stay at hotel in Leh.
After breakfast, Ride Exciting experience at Khardung La, 39 Kms from Leh. (Mountain Pass at 5578 m / 18300 ft.). This is supposed to be the highest motorable road in the world. In Nubra Valley, visit Diskit, Hunder villages and the white sand dunes and take a short camel safari on the double humped Bactrian Camels. Overnight stay at Camp in Nubra Valley.
In the morning after breakfast check out and proceed to explore Samstanling Monastery and Sumur village and then drive back to Leh, passing Khardung La once again. Drop to hotel and lunch. Rest of the day for leisure or take a walking tour and explore Leh Bazaar and the cafes’ on your own. Overnight at hotel. Overnight stay at Hotel in Leh.
Start off from Leh early in the morning after breakfast and start driving/riding on the Leh – Manali highway till you reach the town of Karu. Road is in good condition and journey is fast paced, due to this you will be in Karu in less than an hour. From Karu you need to take the left turn that would take you to the village Shakti, roads are mostly straight till you cross Shakti and a few kilometer thereafter the real ascent for Chang La starts. For most part ascent is steep and initially roads are in good condition. As you approach the final few Kms of the ascent to Chang La, road conditions start to deteriorate and steepness increase, making the affair of reaching the summit of Chang La more challenging and memorable. After a few minutes rest, it’s time to begin the descent from Chang La and your next big break will be at Tanksey. Journey beyond Tanksey for most part is through fantastically laid tarmac and views, as you approach the lake, the sheer size of it starts becoming more apparent as you finally reach its shores. Overnight stay at Camp in Pangong Lake.
Drive back to Leh (150 kms – 5 hrs). Enroute take a short halt at Changla Pass to enjoy a cup of hot steaming tea. Time permitting; explore local Leh market for shopping.
Leh to Kargil via Lamayuru. It is just a 6 hrs drive and the road condition is also a lot better so start after a relaxed breakfast. You can also visit again Lamayuru Monastery on the way. You can also experience Magnetic hill, visit Gurudwara pathar Sahib and the confluence of Indus and Zanskar river. If you do, add to the time accordingly and overnight stay at hotel in Kargil.
After breakfast, continue your adventurous motorbike riding to Srinagar, 123 km from Kargil. Pass across Drass village (world’s second coldest region after sebria), Zojila Pass (Gateway of Ladakh), Sonamarg (Meadow of gold), halt at Sonamarg. Overnight stay at hotel in Sonamarg.
After breakfast leave from Sonamarg. Drive towards Srinagar. Visit Srinagar half day tour of world famous Mughal Gardens visiting the Nishat Bagh (The garden of pleasure) and Shalimar Bagh (Adobe of love), Shankaracharya Temple, Pari Mahal, and Hazratbal Shrine. Overnight Stay in the hotel/houseboat.
